I've been having very inconsistent print results recently, including printing in mid air partly through a print. Now I thing I've found the problem...
    DamagedReel.jpg
This reel is damaged and the line runs over itself. (I've wound it to the top so the damage is visible).
Probably the tension was too high.
So I need new reels. The problem is I have a spare set but cannot find them. So the best way to locate the is to buy some more ;)
One disadvantage of living in Oz is the reels are $9.00 for 3, but the post is $31.00. So instead of $3.00 each it makes them over $13.00 each. So as they look to be a "consumable", I think I'll get a couple of sets.
No doubt as soon as I order them, the others will give up hiding and laugh at me!
Still, as I am going to print another set of Batten fridge magnets.....

I need them and hope they get here rapidly.

I'm going through 3D Printing Withdrawal!
The reels are some where in transit. last entry on the tracking was 9th March in NY. I do hope they get here soon. A couple of weeks with no printing is hard to take ;)

It has been 3 weeks since the reels were posted, and they are still in transit, not reached Australia yet! It looks like they went on the slow boat, not air mail :(
So here will be no Batten Bats printed for the fund raiser this weekend. This is very disappointing.

It looks like the package may have fallen off the table at USPS in NY.....

It was "dispatched" 3weeks ago, and now has been dispatched again!

    It only took a month!

In the next day or so I should be able to 3D print again!

Sorry about that! Usually that never happens, even when we send stuff to your country. Must have been some major screw up by the postal service.

My wife had some yarn sent from Colorado to Oz, but it took a holiday in Brazil for 3 months. Then it started its way to here, so it could have been worse ;)

    Hmmm.
    Still problems :(
This is what I woke up to this morning....

I was hoping to print this...

One drive reel has one less turns on it than the other so I suspect it is slipping. This is the reel I just replaced and it may be why it wore out first as the tension would have been higher to stop the slippage.
A re-threading of the drive lines is in order I think.

I'm beginning to think the damaged reel was not the problem after all. The Deltaprintr is still playing up, but not every time. A thorough look at all the connections and screws... Something may be catching or slipping but I have not found it as yet.
There may be an electrical intermittent too.

Check your drive reel's screws to make sure its tight on the motor and isn't spinning on the motor shaft.

yes, that was one of the first things I checked.
I adjusted all the reels so they are the same height on the shafts and am trying again. There was the remainder of a millipede at one reel so maybe it had been catching?
Also, I have not checked the power supply but that should be ok.

    I had another problem.
    CloggedFan1.jpg
For some reason it looks to have stopped moving (it was printing unattended) and proceeded to fill the fan duct with plastic.
    CloggedFan2.jpg
I had to pre-heat for quite a while until it softened enough for me to pull the fan assembly off.

After looking at all the stepper drivers and moving them in their sockets, the motors are behaving again. There may have been a dirty connection somewhere.

    NewFanMount1.jpg
Then a new fan duct was printed, using a desk fan to help the cooling.
    NewfanMount2.jpg
and when I re installed it, a ring of LEDs was added so now it is quite bright :)
So far it is looking good. All I have to do is make sure the auto leveling runs correctly then let it pint.
It is great to have it back working. My production of geckos continues.

I then to give lots of them away to help spread the 3D printer interest.
